Research papers, written by doctors, scientists and entomologists over the years, will assist in classroom projects. There are several excellent clinical papers that have reviewed domestic mites, including Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and D. farinae. These papers are all written in relatively simple language suitable for older students, or teachers who wish to study mites in the classroom. This is an important science topic, as it will help to expand public knowledge on an important cause of disease worldwide and inform students how mites can be avoided.
All papers can be obtained upon request and for a small fee from the British Library or a good medical or reference library. References: ‘The Biology of Allergenic Domestic Mites, An Update’, Barbara J. Hart, 1995 Humana Press Inc, Clinical Reviews in Allergy and Immunology 13:115-133
